Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!
It’s a big holiday for people who are in love because today is one more day to show your feelings and attraction. For sure, Valentine’s Day shouldn’t be the only day when you show your affection to your partner but it’s a nice holiday to remind everyone of us that there is nothing better than love and be loved.

So what does Valentine’s Day mean for Ukrainians?
Of course, originally Valentine’s Day was not a Ukrainian holiday but in the 90s we started celebrating it and are celebrating it until now. The feeling of a holiday you can see everywhere because shops, malls, and public places are decorated with hearts. Also, you can see men or couples with flowers. Giving flowers is very common for Ukrainians and Valentine’s Day is the day when each woman gets a bouquet of nice flowers from her men. In many countries, Valentine’s Day is about giving flowers, chocolate, and a romantic dinner. There are no such standards in Ukraine so gifts can be different and couples have their own traditions on how they celebrate this holiday.
An interesting fact is that this holiday is not only for adults. Children like this holiday also, especially teenagers. It was always exciting to give each other anonymous Valentine’s cards so if the boy or the girl is too shy to tell or show her interest openly, Valentine’s Day is a good way))) For sure, not always love can be mutual and there are situations when you don’t get the mutual interest from the person you like but it’s normal. That’s how life is and that’s how we learn what love is and how to love.
